Often times, people who hire a contractor to provide septic services are not knowledgeable about
exactly what it is they should be looking for. Hopefully the list of questions provided here will give you a
good start on what you should look for when hiring someone to install your new septic system, and not
fall victim to large companies looking to make a quick buck.
ARE YOU LICENSED? As with any contracting job, it is important to only use licensed professionals. They
have been through schooling, trainings, and generally have more experience in their field of work. There
are serious chemicals and hazards to avoid when dealing with a septic system.
How long have you been working in this area? Every area is different. From state to state, and city to
city. It is important that your contractor knows the area and how systems react to the soil, the ground
coverings, the weather, and other important elements. Experience can speak to their level of expertise
as well.
Do your bills ever exceed your estimates? This is something that is bound to happen in the job field.
Things happen, complications arise, and bills must to be added onto. However, a good contractor will
know how to quote jobs on a high percentage accuracy basis.
Who will be doing the work? It is always nice to know if the manager or owner of a company will be on
the premises while your work is being completed. No one ever wants to assume that their work would
be done by one company, and then find out that it was subcontracted.
